None of them suffered from hypertension. They weren't diabetic either, and their blood tests showed normal results. "Our chief [a senior doctor at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College] used to prescribe liver extract [for them]. It was a routine thing. And they used to get well."
Chandy used to wonder why no scientific explanation was given for suggesting liver pills. "It is good for vegetarians," was the only reasoning offered. A few years later, in the late 1960s, Chandy migrated to the UK and became a general practitioner (GP).
